Mac 'n Cheese - Supermarket

While working on my internship at the Utrecht based, award winning studio Colorbleed me and my classmate were tasked with thinking up a sequel for the animation short Mac ’n Cheese.

At the time we we using this as an exercise in scenario writing and storyboarding, not knowing we would be actually animating this short in the months there after.

Client: Colorbleed / il Luster Films

Role: 3D Generalist

Year: 2012 – 2013

Statistics: Award winning short film

Shooting for the stars

While working on the storyboard, the whole studio got exited to actually make this film, so Colorbleed went on a journey to find funds.

When the necessary funds were aquired, we started with the project. This turned out to be one of the most engaging and fun projects I’ve ever been a part of.

Asset building

When the basic blocks were established, there was need for the thousands of assets needed to express a supermarket.

It took us weeks to build the enormous amount of assets, while also building animatics, shading and lighting environments . It took a lot of effort, and was a amazing experience.

Creative freedom

While writing the story, me and my classmate were given full creative freedom to experiment and come up with interesting shots. There were no taboos and no upper limit in technical difficulties, if it seemed cool we went for it!
